Roger Vachalek from the National Weather Service in Des Moines reports that a weather system is moving into the area from Tuesday night into Wednesday. He states that light precipitation is expected on Wednesday, but the concern lies in the cold temperatures, which may lead to the development of light freezing drizzle.
Vachalek mentions that temperatures are cooling off this week, with today’s high reaching the lower 40s. Tonight’s low will be 16 degrees, and Tuesday’s high is expected to be 31 degrees—almost 20 degrees cooler than Sunday’s high in the upper 50s.
