(Lewis) Warmer weather is expected next week, and John Lorenzen, fisheries biologist, encourages ice fishermen to take advantage of the thick ice while conditions are still favorable. Lorenzen confirms that the ice is in good shape, as recent cold weather has allowed many lakes to accumulate over 10 inches of solid ice.
He notes that with a warming trend approaching next week, making the most of the ice fishing opportunities available now is essential. It’s uncommon to build ice in February, and reports indicate that fishing conditions are promising.
The forecast for next week predicts temperatures in the upper 40s on Monday and Tuesday, dropping to the low 40s on Wednesday and Thursday.
