(Atlantic) Red Oak is traveling to Atlantic for a girls’ and boys’ doubleheader basketball game tonight. In the girls’ game, Atlantic has a record of 9-5, while Red Oak is still seeking its first win at 0-12. Red Oak has a record of 4-9 for the boys, and Atlantic is at 2-10. Atlantic’s head boys’ basketball coach, Dalton Franken, emphasizes that the key to success for the Trojans will be solid perimeter defense and strong rebounding.
He notes, “Ball movement will be of utmost importance offensively.” The Tigers average 53.54 points per game compared to Atlantic’s 46.92 points.
The girls’ game is set to tip off at 6:00 p.m. The Trojans have shown improvement as they head into the season’s final stretch. Head coach Dan Vargason mentions that they have reduced turnovers, improved ball movement, and significantly enhanced their press break.
Although the Tigers are coming into the matchup winless, Coach Vargason recalls a similar situation from a year ago.
The girls’ game will tip off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys’ game. The event will be broadcast on 95.7 FM and live-streamed at westerniowatoday.com. The pre-game show begins at 5:45 p.m.
