(Des Moines) This morning, most of Iowa is under an Extreme Cold Warning. This includes Cass, Pottawattamie, Adair, Adams, Union, and all counties to the north and east.
There will be dangerous wind chills of 30 to 38 below zero until noon today. These frigid temperatures could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as ten minutes. If you must go outside, dress in layers, including a hat, face mask, and gloves.
Clouds will increase today, with a high near 15 degrees. It will be breezy, with a south wind of five to ten miles per hour, rising to 15 to 20 miles per hour this afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 miles per hour.
It is much warmer tomorrow, with a high of 32 degrees.
