Iowa Lawmakers Begin Legislative Session

(Des Moine) The Iowa Legislative Session is underway.  Lawmakers met at the State Capitol for the first day of the 2025 session yesterday, where senators and representatives took the oath of office.  Republicans hold a super majority in each chamber this year, as the GOP has a 67 to 33 advantage in the House and a 34 to 15 lead in the Senate.  A legislative breakfast was held before the official start, and speakers such as Governor Kim Reynolds spoke to the elected officials.  Both chambers then gaveled in at ten in the morning.
