(Creston) A head-on collision at the intersection of Adams and Sumner Streets in Creston on Saturday evening resulted in one person being transported to the hospital.
According to the Creston Police Department, the accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. A 2016 Jeep Patriot SUV, driven by 29-year-old Shandi Brown of Creston, was traveling north on Sumner Street in the outside lane. Brown reported that the traffic light was green, prompting her to proceed through the intersection.
At the same time, a 2018 GMC van, driven by 56-year-old Brenda Ewing, also of Creston, was facing south on Sumner Street and attempting to turn left onto Adams Street. Ewing told officers she had a green arrow.
The collision resulted in injuries to Brown, who was transported to the hospital by EMS. The airbags in Ewing’s van deployed, and both vehicles sustained approximately $7,000 in damage each, according to police estimates.
No citations were issued following the incident.
