(Neola, IA) — The Hinton Blackhawks won the Tri Center Invitational in boys wrestling action on Saturday. Nodaway Valley finished in 2nd place and Ashton Honnold and Trent Warner both won individual titles. Honnold went 3-0 with 2 falls and won by tech fall in the finals over Jacob Bishop of Hinton. Warner went 3-0 with a tech fall, fall and beat Tyler Sulsberger of Westwood 6-1 in the finals. The Wolverines had 2nd place finishes from Caleb Christensen at 190 and Keyin Steeve at 132. Ty Strode finished 3rd at 120
For AC/GC, Ryder Cline won at 144 pounds going 4-0 with 3 falls and a tech fall. Gavin Sloss finished 2nd at 126 going 3-1 losing in the finals 10-3. Carter Richter was 3rd at 190 and Mike Fuller was third at 215.
For Harlan, Jesse Jens was the top seed at 126 pounds but got upset in the semifinals by Riley Watts of Lawton Bronson 9-4 — Jens rebounded to finish in third place. Spencer Fink was 2nd at 120, Nathan Sandquist was 2nd at 106, and Brody McKinley was 3rd at 150.
For Tri Center, Brant Freeberg won the title on his home mat at 138, beating Tommy Tanner of Hinton 3-1 in the finals. All the points were scored in the first period. Carter Gittins finished 2nd at 113, Tucker Olsen was 3rd at 106 and Noah Goodwin was 4th at 144 for the Trojans.
For Southwest Valley, Ian Forsythe is 2nd at 165, Gavin Wetzel 3rd at 157, Carson Cooper 4th at 138 and Degan Farwell 4th at 106.
