Wesley William Wahlert, age 67, of Wiota, IA, passed away on Monday, January 06, 2025 at his residence.
Wesley William Wahlert, born March 7, 1957, in Cass County, Iowa, was the son of Audrey and William Wahlert.
Wes grew up in Anita, Iowa, and graduated from Anita High School in 1975. He spent the majority of his life farming and raising livestock, later transitioning to a career as a postal carrier with the Anita postal service, where he retired in 2019.
On August 19, 1989, Wesley married Tammy Daughenbaugh, who brought her son, Michael Fleming, into the marriage. The couple later had two children together, Eric Wahlert and Spencer Wahlert. Though Wes and Tammy eventually separated, they maintained a deep and special friendship throughout his life.
Wes was passionate about spending time with his family, enjoying the outside, music, collecting coins and stamps, and working in his shop. Wes did not believe in sitting idle preferring to keep busy helping others and working on his never-ending projects. Wes was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Anita.
Preceding Wes in death are his parents, Audrey and William Wahlert, brother in infancy Richard, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Surviving Wes are his children, Eric Wahlert (Celeste Borts), Spencer Wahlert (Jalynn Farmer), Michael Fleming (Autumn Crecelius), and grandchildren, Dayona Wahlert, Echo Crecelius, Talon Fleming, and Savannah Fleming, Siblings Joni Lea (Bill) Bollinger of Omaha, Marcy Lyn (Kevin) Blazek of Greenfield, and Wylie Jay (Jean Jessen) Wahlert of Anita, former spouse Tammy (Matt Luke) Wahlert of Anita, aunts, and uncles, Ray Wahlert of Wiota, Delores Templeman of Atlantic, Neil Aupperle of Anita, Marlene Aupperle Shannon of Maison, Ohio, nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Anita Community Center.
A private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Anita is handling the arrangements for the Wahlert Family.
