(Atlantic) Kinnick Juhl and Gavin McLaren’s 54 combined points led Atlantic to an 86-60 win over Shenandoah in a Boy’s Hawkeye Ten Conference Basketball game on Friday night at Atlantic.
McLaren and Juhl provided the inside-outside look for the Trojans. McLaren attacked the rim on the inside, scoring 27 points, and Kinnick Juhl buried six three-point shots and three field goals and finished three-for-three from the free throw line for 27. Shelton Mualia and Grant Petty each scored ten, Hunter Nelson six, and Hudson McLaren finished the night with four points. Atlantic Head Coach Dalton Franken says the defense set the tone.

Grant Petty started strong by making a quick three-point shot, helping the Trojans jump to an early 6-0 lead. The Mustangs quickly answered with their own 6-0 run, tying the game at 6-6. However, Atlantic responded with a 7-0 run and never looked back, ending the first quarter with a 30-18 lead and a 49-35 advantage at halftime. Kinnick Juhl caught fire in the second half, scoring five baskets from beyond the three-point line contributing to a 65-51 lead by the end of the third quarter, ultimately sealing the game with an 86-60 victory.
Shenandoah Freshman Carter Sells led the Mustangs with 18 points, supported by Logan Twyman with 14 points, Gabe Buttry with 13 points, Dalton Athen with 6 points, and Joey O’Rourke and Cole Graham contributing 4 points each.
