(Anita, IA) — The CAM girls basketball team hope the new year will bring more victories — CAM ended 2024 with two wins in a row to get back close to the .500 mark overall at 3-4 but a solid 2-2 in the competitive Rolling Valley Conference. Head Coach Joe Wollum says his team had a great scrimmage during the holiday break against Clarinda but in practice he really emphasized improving their defensive pressure
Senior Maddie Richter continues to lead the offense averaging 15.3 points a game, is shooting 33 percent on her threes and Wollum is working with her to get the others more involved in the offense
CAM beat a solid Boyer Valley team 51-49 then thumped Paton Churdan 54-13 just before break. Wollum says those victories have done wonders for the confidence of the team
In the Rolling Valley Conference, Woodbine and Coon Rapids Bayard have the early lead and do not have a conference loss. CAM, Boyer Valley, and Exira EHK are all tied for third place and Wollum says he expects some tough games this January
CAM will host Glidden Ralston tomorrow night in girls/boys DH, then visit Exira EHK next Tuesday.
