(Nodaway) Corning Firefighters and Villisca responded to a chimney fire on Tuesday at 9:18 a.m. at 1025 230th Street in rural Nodaway.
Villisca Fire Chief John Bruce said when they arrived, the fire had extended into the attic area, and due to increasing winds, the blaze spread rapidly throughout the remaining residence. The occupants evacuated the residence safely. Two firemen were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The residence is a total loss (value unknown at the release time).
Additional mutual aid was requested for Fire Dept Tanker support from Grant FD, Stanton FD, Lenox FD, Prescott FD, and Red Oak FD.
