(Boulder, Colorado) The Iowa State men’s basketball team began their Big 12 season with a 79-69 victory over Colorado on Monday night. After trailing by 12 points, Colorado made a strong comeback, executing a 22-5 run in the second half to take the lead. However, the Cyclones managed to regroup and ultimately secured the win on the road. Iowa State shot 29-of-68 (42.6%) from the field and only 4-of-18 (22.2%) from three-point range, with just one made three-pointer in the second half. Curtis Jones led the team with 20 points, despite missing his first six shot attempts. Keshon Gilbert contributed 14 points, while Joshua Jefferson added 13 points, seven rebounds, and eight steals. Tamin Lipsey scored 10 points, and Brandon Chatfield provided nine points, seven rebounds, and two blocks off the bench. With this victory, Iowa State improves to 11-1 for the season and 1-0 in Big 12 Conference play. They will face Baylor on Saturday, January 4.
