Sandra Kay Madron, daughter of Claus and Wilma Kate (Hagedorn) Danker, was born on June 23, 1941, at home on the family farm near Oakland, Iowa. She passed away on December 26, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 83.
Sandra spent her early years on the farm, where she enjoyed milking cows and riding horses. She attended country school for kindergarten and continued her education at Oakland School, graduating from Oakland High School in 1959. During her high school years, she was active in basketball and softball.
On September 2, 1962, Sandra married Herbert K. Madron, and they shared 25 years together. Sandra lived her entire life in Oakland, Iowa, and worked at various local businesses, including Nonpareil Office, Citizens State Bank, Oakland Super Value, Shady Lawn Cafe, HiWay Cafe, Jac’s Steakhouse, Club 64, Casey’s, Land O’Lakes-Excel, First National Bank, Nebraska Porkers, Campbell Soup, Oriental Trading, and Bemis.
She was a member of the Oakland Congregational Church and had a passion for riding horses and walking. Sandra was also a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Sandra is survived by her children, Kathie Madron and Danny Madron; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Megan; her sister, Joann Lockwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Joe, who passed away at birth; her grandson, Ryan; and her parents, Claus and Wilma Kate Danker.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date, with Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland assisting the family.
