(Nashville, Tennesee) The Missouri Tigers overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat Iowa 27-24 at the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday afternoon.
The Hawkeyes took an early lead, going up 14-7 with Terrell Washington Jr. catching a 6-yard touchdown pass from Brendan Sullivan. Kaden Wetjen then returned a kickoff 100 yards along the left sideline, putting Iowa ahead 21-14 at halftime. They extended their lead to 24-14 with a field goal by Drew Stevens.
However, trailing 24-14, Missouri scored the final 13 points to secure the victory. Tiger place kicker Blake Craig played a crucial role in this rally, successfully kicking two field goals in the fourth quarter, including a significant 56-yard field goal with 4:36 remaining in the game.
Missouri compiled 376 yards of offense, with 287 passing and 89 rushing yards. Quarterback Brady Cook threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns, while Marquis Johnson contributed with 122 yards receiving and a touchdown catch.
Iowa played without Big Ten rushing leader Kaleb Johnson, who opted out of the bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft. Kamari Moulton led the Hawkeyes in rushing with 96 yards on just 14 carries, and Jaziun Patterson added 74 yards. Brenden Sullivan completed 14 of 18 passes for 131 yards. Iowa totaled 297 yards of offense, with 131 yards passing and 166 yards rushing.
