Alison Spicer Paulsen, 77, of Carson
Alison Spicer Paulsen, born on September 12, 1947, in Seattle, WA, passed away on December 26, 2024, at UNMC in Omaha, NE, at the age of 77. She was the beloved daughter of Donald and Beth Spicer. Alison spent her early years in southern California, where she married Virgil Paulsen on February 14, 1965, in Anaheim, CA. Together, they had three children: Kimberly, Scott, and Amy.
After their marriage, Alison and Virgil lived in California before moving to Fremont, NE, and later to Decatur, NE, Norfolk, NE, and finally settling in Omaha. During her time in Omaha, Alison worked for Central States Indemnity. In 2010, after her retirement, she and Virgil moved to Carson, IA, where she lived until her passing.
Alison was deeply involved in her church, enjoying Bible studies and various church activities. She also loved reading and journaling.
She is survived by her husband Virgil, her children Kimberly, Scott, and Amy, her grandchildren: Libby, Emily, Logan, Elijha, Lauren, Foster, Landon, and Trent, and her great-grandson Nathan. She is also survived by her brother Cameron Spicer and his wife Becky, along with many other relatives and friends.
Alison was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Christina and Meredith, and her son-in-law John. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Carson Community Building in Carson, IA. Arrangements are being handled by Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland.
