(Des Moines) The Iowa State Patrol has released the names of the victims involved in the head-on collision on Interstate 35 in northern Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 8:55 a.m. on Saturday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near the 204-mile marker in Worth County. Three people died and three others suffered injuries. Authorities identified the three people killed as: 83-year-old Leonard Lilyholm, and 82-year-old Carol Lilyholm, both of Palm Beach, Florida, and 41-year-old Bradley Vonnahme, of Coon Rapids. The three people injured are identified as 6-year-old Brookes Vonnahme, of Coon Rapids, 26-year-old Saul Huntley-Ayala, and 24-year-old Victor Santos, both from Ames, Iowa.
According to the report, Authorities say a 2014 Volkswagon EOS driven by Lilyholm crossed the median and traveled southbound in the northbound lane, and collided head-on with a northbound 2013 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Bradley Vonnahme.
Brookes Vonnahme, Saul Huntley-Ayala, and Victor Santos were all transported to Mercy One North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment of serious injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Forest City Ambulance, Northwood First Responders, and ambulance, Iowa DOT, Iowa DNR, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, and Fertile and Hanlontown Fire Departments.
The accident is under investigation.
