(Hawaii) Brice Williams led Nebraska to a 78-66 victory over Oregon State on Wednesday, securing the Huskers’ first multi-team event (MTE) championship since 2000. Williams, who was named MVP of the tournament, delivered an exceptional performance, scoring 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting while adding seven rebounds and four assists. Over the three-game tournament, Williams averaged 22.0 points per game, including a combined 57 points in wins over Hawai’i and Oregon State.
Berke Büyüktuncel contributed 16 points and six rebounds, connecting on 3-of-4 shots from beyond the arc, and earned a spot on the all-tournament team alongside Williams. Juwan Gary added 14 points and two steals, marking his second consecutive game in double figures.
With the win, Nebraska improved to 10-2 on the season and claimed its first MTE title since the 2000 San Juan Shootout. It also marked the second Diamond Head Classic championship for a team coached by Fred Hoiberg, who previously led Iowa State to the title in 2013.
