(Des Moines, IA) — The state of Iowa is expanding its Safe Haven Program with a third baby box.
The Norwalk Fire Department is in the process of ordering the baby box and deciding where they want to put it in Firehouse 61. The two other boxes are located at The Fort Dodge FIre Department and MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.
The baby boxes are designed to allow parents to safely and anonymously surrender a newborn baby up to 90 days old through the state’s Safe Haven Act.
