(Black Hawk County, IA) — Why drive 106 miles an hour in a 65 zone on Christmas Eve? The Iowa State Patrol pulled over a driver in a Ford Explorer on Highway 20 in Black Hawk County for going 40 over the speed limit. The driver didn’t have the usual excuse, running late. This man told trooper Bryce Thompson he was speeding because the heater wasn’t working and he was trying to get to their destination before the windows iced up. Whatever the reason, in Iowa that’s a 500-dollar fine, plus court costs, and whatever auto insurance does with a 106 mile an hour speeding ticket.
