(Cedar Rapids) A Cedar Rapids mail carrier and former school board member is running to be the chair of the Iowa Democratic Party. Dexter Merschbrock said he will challenge Rita Hart for the position as her two-year term ends next month. Merschbrock argued the party needs to rebuild trust with and prioritize the interests of working-class Iowans if they hope to turn their electoral fortunes around in the Hawkeye State. Members of the Iowa Democratic Party’s State Central Committee will meet on January 4th to elect a party chair.
