(Griswold) The Griswold School Board held an organizational meeting on Monday night. The board elected Ryan Smith president and Erika Kirchhoff vice president.
One item on the agenda was the relocation and remodeling of the concession stands. Derek O’Neil of Alley-Poyner Architecture explained to the board that the bidding process for this project will start in January, with the bids due in mid-February.
Griswold Schools Superintendent Dave Henrichs says the project is targeted to start when school is dismissed for the summer. The goal is to have the remodel and relocation ready for the 2025-2026 school year.
The school board also gave O’Neil the go-ahead to prepare plans to refinish the high school gym floor for $15,000.
In other business, the school board approved contracts for Laura Oster as a PD facilitator and her regular teaching duties: Troy Nicklaus and Nancie Platt, Driver’s Education Instructors. The board also approved the transfer of Alyssa Karwal, a fourth-grade teacher, who will transition to a .6 FTE full-time elementary counselor next school year. Erin Stotts, elementary special education teacher, will drop down from .84 to .79 at her request.
