(Des Moines) The City of Des Moines wants to reactivate its speed cameras while appealing a decision from the Iowa Department of Transportation. The city is appealing a rule change forcing them to deactivate most of the fixed speed cameras as of October 1st. Des Moines originally had to apply for the usage of the cameras due to a new state law. Officials noted it has seen an uptick in the number of speeders in the area. Many cameras are still used for the purpose of data collection at those spots.
