(Washington County) Two people died in a head-on collision in Washington County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 3:51 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, on Highway 218 near mile marker 78. Authorities identified the victims as 36-year-old Brittany Dale Miles and 27-year-old Olivia Marie Alvarez. Both are from Cedar Rapids.
According to the report, a 2021 Nissan Rouge driven by Miles involved in a pursuit, northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 218, struck a southbound 2017 Ford Explorer, driven by Alvarez, head-on. Miles died on impact, and Alvarez succumbed to her injuries following life-saving measures were performed.
