(Sioux Co. Iowa) Governor Kim Reynolds is making state resources available for Sioux County after a case of bird flu was detected. The governor issued a disaster declaration on Friday that will last through January 5th, which allows state agencies to help with “detection, containment, disposal, and disinfection.” Her office explained the illness doesn’t pose any threat to public health and poultry products are still safe to eat. This is the first reported case of bird flu in Iowa since June.
