(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning approved the application for zoning change by Landus Cooperative from General Agricultural District to Heavy Industrial District for property in Pymosa Township.
The approval following a public hearing in which there were no comments against the zoning change.
In August, Landus announced the purchase of Wickman Chemical, an independent Iowa-based agricultural chemicals provider, to expand its chemical products and services offerings. The Wickman Chemical property is located on Highway 71 northeast of Atlantic.
Eric Wickman explained the project to the Supervisors…
Zoning Administrator Mike Kennon said this will go back to the Board of Adjustment and pending that approval it will then go back to the Board of Supervisors with some specific language that needs approved.
In other news, the Board of Supervisors approved the second reading of Ordinance Number 39, imposing a Local Option Income Surtax for Emergency Medial Services at a rate of one percent on the state individual income tax for 15 years in accordance with Iowa Code following the November 5th General Election when Public Measure A was approved by more than 60-percent of those voting on the question. The Board then acknowledged the receipt of the EMS Advisory Council annual recommendation of EMS Levy as required by Iowa Code. Public Input will be allowed during the December 17th Board of Supervisors meeting.
