(Iowa City, IA) — The Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers will renew their Heroes rivalry today as both teams try to position themselves for a bowl visit. The Huskers will be going bowling for the first time since 2016 after last week’s 44-25 win over Wisconsin gave them their 6th win of the season. Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule says there was not enough time for pats on the back, it was back to work in a short week to prepare for the Hawkeyes
Iowa has dominated the rivalry in recent years — the Hawkeyes have won 8 of the last 9 games between the two teams although the Huskers won the game the last time it was played in Kinnick Stadium. Rhule says one of the reasons that Iowa wins year in and year out is they do the little things well
Iowa is led by Kaleb Johnson who is one of three finalists for the Doak Walker award for the nation’s top running back. Iowa is 5-0 in Big Ten games when Johnson runs for over 100 yards. Head Coach Kirk Ferentz says it will be tough to block the Nebraska defense and give him room
Ferentz says the Huskers are much younger on offense but it starts with QB Dylan Raiola
Nebraska is 6-5, Iowa is 7-4, Kickoff at 6:30 pm, coverage on NBC.
