(Greenfield, IA) — Its a new season of Nodaway Valley girls basketball starting tonight. The Wolverines are coming off a 20-4 season just missing the state tournament falling to Grundy Center in the Regional Final.
The Wolverines also lost their leading scorer Lindsey Davis (24.6 ppg) who is now at Upper Iowa University. Starters Bella Hogan, Annika Nelson and Jorja Holliday also moved on. However Head Coach Brian Eisbach is optimistic with the talent coming back led by his daughter Junior Izzy Eisbach (19.2 ppg) who will now be the primary target of opponents defenses
Senior Maddie Weston (3.3 ppg) started 10 games last year and provides three point shooting. Seniors Taylor Day and Liv Laughery will see increased minutes. Eisbach says they will be height challenged this year but team’s could have a hard time matching their athleticism
Eisbach says there is a lot of players who are in the mix for the starting line-up and rotation; they are just short on varsity experience
Expectations are always high for Nodaway Valley who only has 17 losses in the last 5 seasons — the average record is 20-3 — Eisbach says after losing four starters it will be a work in progress but don’t count the Wolverines come playoff time
Nodaway Valley opens their season tonight (Friday) at Treynor
