(Iowa City, IA) — Keeping track of who is playing quarterback for the University of Iowa might get you dizzy. The Hawkeyes have had QBs in and out of the training room all season long. Cade McNamara went down moving Brendan Sullivan into the starting role. Now Sullivan is out and will not play this week but McNamara is now available. Marco Lainez (Lie-nez) was the number three QB but got hurt moving Jackson Stratton up the depth chart and he finished the last game against UCLA. Now Lainez is back. So going into this week, its McNamara the starter, Stratton the back up and Lainez #3. Got all that? Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz says the QB spot has been kind of fuzzy but McNamara appears ready to start for now
Iowa will take on Maryland on Saturday and it will be Coach Ferentz versus Coach Ferentz — Kirk Ferentz’s son Brian who was offensive coordinator last year is now an offensive assistant with the Terps. In Kirk Ferentz’s words, it will be weird to take the field against him
Mike Godfrey is Maryland’s Head Coach who has lost 3 in a row coming into this game against Iowa — the first thing that jumps out according to Ferentz is their QB Billy Edwards Junior who has thrown for nearly 2900 yards this season
Iowa is 6-4, Maryland is 4-6, Game time Saturday is at 11 am, it will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
