Margaret King, age 75, of Harlan, Iowa
Margaret “Margy” Jane King was born to Dr. Martin and Dorothy (Morrison) Maher on March 13, 1949 in Marshall, MN. She received baptism, first communion and confirmation at Holy Name Catholic Church in Vesta, MN. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School.
It was during her high school years she met the love of her life, Wayne. They were united in marriage February 1, 1969. To this union 3 children were born, Kristian, born sleeping, Colin and Gretchen. They were blessed with a lifetime of happiness. Margy and Wayne spent their days working and traveling together. Where you found one, you would find the other. They were each other’s best friend and truly found their other half. One of Margy’s most significant accomplishments was raising her children.
Margy had many professions throughout her life; from cattle ranching, owning a feedstore, hardware store, grocery store to hog farming. It was with these jobs that she was able to instill the value of hard work to her children and grandchildren.
Margy loved gardening, hot summer days, watching “The View” and Hallmark movies, shopping, everything chocolate, Lipton Iced Tea, playing Skip-bo, wearing her heating vest-even in the summer, bird watching, caring for animals, listening to people’s stories, visiting with friends and being around family. Most of all Margy loved being a grandma.
Margy died peacefully at home on November 1, 2024. Her loss is felt deeply by her family, friends and all who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on in all the lives she has touched.
