(Harlan) The Harlan Municipal Utilities issued a “Boil Order” for all HMU customers in the City of Harlan.
The order means All HMU customers in the city should boil all water before it is consumed until further notice. This includes the customers in the Cresthaven Addition. Water service may be intermittently interrupted during this time.
HMU officials say three main leaks have been reported. One has been fixed. There is a leak at 10th, and Spring St. Everyone in this area should have water, but the pressure might be low. Residents in this area could eventually have the water turned off when they are done fixing the main break on Chatburn. This could run into the early morning at 1:00 or 2:00 a.m.
There is a main break on 12th and Chatburn that the crews have been working on since approximately 1:00 pm. The area on Chatburn from 12th Street to Southwest Ave was shut off on Wednesday morning and notified. The area on 9th Street from Chatburn to Elm Street was shut off at approximately 7:00 pm and will be off while they are working on the main. I apologize for any inconvenience, and please thank the water department for their diligence in restoring service. They don’t leave until the issue is resolved.
