(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Wrestling Coach Tim Duff and his staff got practice going bright and early on Monday morning. The 2024-2025 squad features a roster of 24 with two returning state qualifiers and many promising underclassmen.
Part one of our Atlantic wrestling preview starts with the two returning seniors. Coach Duff says state qualifiers Evan Sorensen and Aiden Smith return to the mat. Duff says Smith has been a mainstay in the Trojan lineup for the past three years. He is a three-time state medal winner and a state runner-up. Smith has three Hawkeye Ten Conference Championships under his belt and finished his junior season with a record of 50-3.
Duff says senior Evan Sorensen is coming off an outstanding football season with first-team all-district honors. Sorensen is a two-time state qualifier and fell just short of the medal stand at the state wrestling tournament the past two years. Sorensen enters his senior season with a career record of 82-24, with 69 career pins.
This is part one of a series previewing the 2024-2025 season. Tomorrow, we will break down this year’s junior class.
The Trojans open the season on December 5 with a dual at Earlham.
