(Atlantic) American Legion National Vice Commander James Kellogg is currently on tour discussing their mission on suicide awareness.
Kellogg spoke about the Be the One campaign during his stop in Atlantic. He noted that American Legion in Iowa and the American Legion family in Iowa is taking a very positive and active approach to this issue.
According to the National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report, it is estimated that between 17 and 22 veterans or service members take their lives each day. That’s more than 6,000 annually. As the Global War on Terrorism continues, there will be more veterans facing mental-health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Kellogg wants veterans and servicemembers to know that help is available.
During his visit to the KSOM/KS95 studios, James Kellogg also congratulated the Iowa American Legion on their successful campaign for membership and the continued dedication they have to their leadership.
James Kellogg was elected to be the American Legion National Vice Commander at the National Convention in August. Kellogg is a farmer from southeastern Minnesota. He has four children and 12 grandchildren and they are all members of the American Legion family.
