(Atlantic, IA) — Wendy Mueller the Executive Director of West Central Community Action presented her annual report to the Cass County Board of Supervisors at Tuesday’s meeting.
Mueller formally requested funds in the amount of $4,500 from the Supervisors to help in their yearly community services. Mueller says the money is the same amount that the Supervisors approved last year
Mueller says that the West Central Community Action served 592 households in Cass County last year and that consisted of about 1,300 individuals which was a slight increase over the previous year
Other programs include Headstart which had 16 children participate in the county and early Headstart with 7 children. The money is also spent on childcare resources and referral services
Also, the WCCA had a program to promote good nutrition and positive eating habits – 165 children participated. Weatherization which increases energy efficiency in low income homes – 11 total households in Cass County. LIHEAP low income utility assistance with 524 households. Emergency crises affected 54 households. Family development for at risk families below the poverty level 10 households and Severe storms assistance 3 households.
Total amount spent by the WCCA this past year was $1.4 million.
