(Area) — All State Volleyball teams were announced today (Monday) by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association and Elly Henderson, Senior for Riverside was named First Team All State. Henderson helped lead the Bulldogs to the state tournament leading Riverside with 287 kills, second on the team in digs with 271 and also had 32 blocks and 50 aces. Head Coach Brooke Flathers
Senior Ayla Richardson was named 2nd Team All State from the Iowa coaches — the Libero had 374 digs plus was second on the team with 65 aces. Its a great honor for a player that at first wasn’t a libero says Flathers
Junior Bentley Rone was also honored as a Third Team All-State selection. Rone was an all-over-the court player for the Bulldogs finishing with 263 kills, 533 assists, 65 blocks, 163 digs, and led the team with 73 aces.
Overall Flathers says this is validation for all the hard work that the girls put into volleyball and can be inspiring for the team as well
In Class 4A, Lewis Central had 2 players honored: Senior Brooke Larsen was named to the first team and Senior Madelyn Roenfeld was a second team selection. Glenwood’s Senior Charley Hernandez was a second team all state selection.
