(Atlantic) The Atlantic boys’ basketball team returns two starters from last year’s squad when practice officially starts today. Juniors Gavin McLaren and Hudson McLaren. Gavin averaged 12.7 points per game one year ago and 6.7 rebounds. Hudson finished second on the team in assists in the year with 51.
Atlantic Head Coach Dalton Franken says Hudson will be a threat around the perimeter this season.
Franken says three other players are back with the team this year and will garner a lot of playing time: Kinnick Juhl, Shelton Maulia, and Reid Woodward.
Hunter Nelson will be another player. Coach Franken says that we will be an essential piece of the puzzle.
The coach is looking for good things from sophomores Gage Gross and Grant Petty, who saw some playing time as freshmen.
Coach Franken says there is plenty of talent on the team, they are great kids, and they work hard and enjoy being around each other. He is looking forward to getting to work this week.
The Trojans will open the season at North Polk on December 2. They will scrimmage at West Central Valley on November 22 and Winterset and Pella Christian at Winterset on November 29.
