(Oakland, IA) — Domination. That has described the career of Molly Allen for the Riverside girls wrestling team. Last year, Allen dominated the 125 pound weight class with 3 pins and 2 major decisions on her way to third state championship in a row. Now she will go for 4 in 2024 as she leads a strong Bulldog wrestling team this year. Riverside Head Coach Ben Dorr who is entering his first year as coach says there’s no reason to believe she can’t do it
Riverside does lose Carly Henderson who went 49-3 last year and finished third place at state but Senior Veronica Shechinger was a state qualifier a year ago and Dorr says she has natural ability on the mat
The Bulldogs are blessed with strong numbers — 15 girls are out for wrestling this year and Dorr is hoping to schedule more dual matches and believes they can fill most if not all the weight classes. Dorr says Riverside is really strong in the 25-45 weight classes and points out some wrestlers who nearly got to state last year
With so much talent in the room, Dorr says there is no ceiling on high this team can achieve this year
Riverside will open their season on Thursday, November 21 hosting a meet with Hinton, Sioux City North, Sioux City West and Missouri Valley.
