Gladbrook Reinbeck 43, Lenox 27
The Rebels continue to surprise everybody in the 8 Man playoffs and the #2 ranked Tigers are the latest victim of Head Coach John Olson’s team. A Lenox interception midway through the 4th quarter was the big play in this game and it turned into a key Glad Rein TD to put the game away.
Both teams traded scores early — it was tied 14-14 late in the first quarter when Lenox failed to convert a 4th and 3 from their own 30 yard line. Using the short field, Gladbrook Reinbeck got a 4 yard TD from QB Drew Eilers to make it 20-14. After a Lenox 3 and out, the Rebels converted a 21 yard field goal from Brayden Utter to make it 23-14. Lenox would again fail to convert a 4th down on the GR 29 and Eilers got a 5 yard TD just before the end of the first half — Glad Rein led 29-14 at the half.
Lenox would move the opening drive of the 2nd half for a Gabe Funk 5 yard TD and after a Rebel punt, Funk ended another drive in a Tiger TD from 2 yards to make it 29-27 Rebels. That’s as close as Lenox would get. Glad Rein returned the kickoff to midfield from Hudson Clark. Eilers hit Treyvon Harris on a 36 yard pass to set up a 5 yard TD run by Harris to make it 36-27. Then Funk would throw his interception which was the only turnover of the game for either team and Eilers put the game away with another TD run with 5:14 left.
Drew Eilers had 31 carries for 146 yards and 4 TD plus was 8-12 throwing for 99 yards. Treyvon Harris had 11 carries for 75 yards and 2 TD and 4 catches for 54 yards. For Lenox, Gabe Funk had 21 carries for 182 yards and 3 TD plus was 11-19 for 64 yards and 1 INT.
