(Atlantic) The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained nearly 2,500 points since the November 5 elections. In the past week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average surpassed 44,000 points and a record 6,000 on the S&P 500. Mark Smith is a Principal Securities Registered Representative in Atlantic.
Smith says that since January 1, 2024, the S&P 500 has jumped 26 percent year-to-date, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 16 percent year-to-date. He says numerous record highs were reached in both the Dow and the S&P 500 during the year, led by technology stocks and financials.
Mark Smith says corporate earnings will drive the market. He says corporations must show they are making money for the markets to perform favorably.
