(Anita, IA) — Fans of the CAM girls basketball team are not used to the term rebuilding but after graduating all of their starters off of last year’s 21-3 team, there will be some rebuilding to start this season. Gone is Eva Steffensen, Carley Dennis, Meredith Rich, Emma Follmann, and Kiera Nichols. This year, the Cougars have three sophomores who have the most experience — Ruthie Rich (1.8 ppg), Courtney Follmann (4.0 ppg) and Ada Hanson (4.3 ppg). Head Coach Joe Wollum says they each bring some to the table
Atlantic transfer Maddie Richter fit right in to the volleyball and the Senior will do the same for basketball — Richter (6.2 ppg) will bring some scoring and some leadership says Wollum
Richter, Gracie Veinticher, and Lyndsay Chaney are CAM’s three seniors this year — Wollum has always used a tough up tempo pressing defense but he might have to back off the press this year
With a lack of experience coming back, the Cougars might be a work in progress to start the season but Wollum says by the time January rolls around, they might be the CAM of old
CAM will compete in the Atlantic girls basketball scrimmage this Saturday and will open the season on Tuesday, November 26 at AHSTW.
