(Des Moines) The Iowa Finance Authority has announced that eligible homeowners impacted by recent disasters have until Nov. 20, 2024, to apply for up to $50,000 in assistance through the Disaster Recovery Housing Assistance Program (DRHAP). Governor Reynolds allocated $15 million to this program, which has already conditionally approved nearly 300 applicants.
The program provides aid for unmet repair needs not covered by insurance or FEMA. Applications are processed in the order received, but funds are limited. Eligible homes must be in FEMA-approved counties and meet specific requirements, including prior FEMA registration, an insurance claim, and contractor work registered in Iowa. Homes in flood zones and rental properties are not eligible.
Details and applications are available at iowafinance.com/DRHAP and IowaGrants.gov.
