Kenneth Sherman Vorm of Kimballton, Iowa, was born on April 23, 1949, to Leslie Sherman and Lorene Myrl (Schlater) Vorm in Audubon, Iowa. He went home to his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2024, surrounded by family in his home.
He was baptized on June 12, 1949, at Exira Lutheran Church. He was later confirmed at Hamlin Lutheran Church. He attended country school until the eighth grade in rural Audubon County and graduated from Audubon High School in 1967. He attended Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Upon his return home, he met his wife of 52 years, Julie Annette (Miller) Vorm. They were united in marriage on October 1, 1972, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Audubon County. They made their home in rural Audubon County where they continued to reside to this day. Into this union four children were born: Anthony (Tony), Nathan, Andrea, and Lindsey.
Kenneth was a man of many trades but spent most of his working years as a dairy farmer and a carpenter. Kenneth will be remembered as a man of integrity but especially a man of faith in the Lord.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Robert Just, father-in law Merlin Miller, and brother-in-law Bruce Nelson.
He is survived by his wife Julie; children Tony (Tasha) Vorm of Nevada; Nathan (Sara) Vorm, Andrea (Dustin) Gleason of Audubon; and Lindsey Vorm of Harlan; grandchildren Addisyn, Mataya, Griffin, and Akrin Vorm of Nevada; Madison, Carson, and Garret Vorm, Grant, Mari, and Kye Gleason all of Audubon; Adriana and Ariel Vorm of Harlan; and 11 foster grandchildren who called him “Grandpa.” Sisters Suzanne Just of Atlantic; Nancy (Charles) Hansen of Audubon; Sheryl (Jeff) Harder of Walnut; brother Bruce (Diane) Vorm of Casey; mother-in-law Phyllis Miller, sister-in-laws Jeanne Nelson and Patrice (Roger) Randeris all of Audubon; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 06, 2024, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, IA, with Pastor Phil Nielsen officiating. The family will greet the public with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., also held on Wednesday at the church.
A luncheon will follow the funeral in the Fellowship Hall of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Interment will occur at Oakfield Cemetery, located just east of Brayton following the luncheon.
