(Atlantic) In September, the Atlantic School Board hired Mike Greving as the new head girls’ wrestling Coach to take over the Atlantic program, which is going on its own for the first time since girl’s wrestling became a sanctioned sport in Iowa. Practice starts today.
Coach Greving began his coaching career as an assistant in 2007 and has spent the last eight years as an assistant boy’s wrestling coach at Atlantic. He is honored to take over the girl’s program at Atlantic.
Coach Greving says that after coaching so many youth and high school kids, he can appreciate how intimidating it can be for a student-athlete to go out for wrestling for the first time.
Coach Greving says to start with, he will focus on a handful of moves.
Coach Greving says he wants to take his knowledge and put his spin on it, make it manageable for these girls, teach them something fun, and down the road, say, “I was an Iowa High School Wrestler, and that will mean something.”
