(Anita, IA) — For the 2nd week in a row, CAM will be making a long trip with the goal of a win and move on in the playoffs — on Friday the Cougars travel to Remsen to take on the Hawks of St. Mary’s, coverage on KSOM.
Last week, Cougars QB Makade Paulsen had a career day in a dramatic 67-64 win over GTRA. Paulsen ran for a career high 346 yards and 4 TD plus threw for 159 yards and 5 more scores. But the game was decided on a last second 24 yard field goal by Keegan Croghan, it was the first field goal of the season for CAM and Paulsen was the holder. He says everything went like routine
Paulsen was thought to be the tailback this season until All State QB Chase Spieker went down with a season ending injury during the summer and Head Coach Barry Bower turned to Paulsen who said he was not an easy thing to except at first
The more snaps he took during the season, the more confidence he felt. The results have been 1,334 rushing yards and 962 passing yards with 18 TD and only 5 INT. And he has accepted the leadership role which is a big part of the position. And he gives a lot of credit to his offensive line.
CAM has had to overcome a lot of injuries this season and two losses — a week one defeat at the hands of Audubon and a late season loss to Fremont Mills but Paulsen says the Cougars got the train back on the track the next week
This week Paulsen says that CAM might be more undersized than Remsen St. Mary’s but he feels like his team has more team speed. 7-2 CAM visits #3 Remsen St. Mary’s 9-0, kickoff at 7 pm, coverage on KSOM.
