(Avoca) AHSTW hosts Hinton in a Class 1A first-round playoff game tonight. The Vikings and Hinton are familiar foes. These two teams met in the first round last year on the same AHSTW field, and the Vikings came away with a 21-0 win.
AHSTW Head Coach Jason Holst says Hinton has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Holst says the Blackhawks are good-sized and have experience with 12 seniors on the roster. Gabe Anderson is a double-threat quarterback. He passed for 730 yards and rushed for another 670.
The Vikings have a lot of talent on the field as well. Two key players healed up and were back in the lineup last week. Sternberg is the Vikings’ leading ballcarrier with 129 carries for 1,300 yards behind a solid offensive line.
Zeb Hall and Kayden Baxter lead the Vikings’ receiving corps with 27 and 23 catches, respectively. Hall has 483 total yards and five touchdowns, while Baxter has 292 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
The Kick-Off is set for 7:00 p.m.
