(Oakland, IA) — The Class A playoffs begin tomorrow and Riverside will host Lynnville Sully, coverage on KSOM.
The Bulldogs have one of the best running backs in the western side of the state in Jaxon Gordon who has put up 1,649 yards this year with 28 TD. One of the guys blocking for him is Senior AC Roller who loves what Gordon can accomplish with the football. He says one moment he is blocking and then all of a sudden Gordon is past him and out into the open. Roller leads the defense with 78 tackles but he can be a threat on offense and on most teams he would have bigger stats but he says he is perfectly fine with Gordon carrying the load
While Gordon will hold a lot of the Hawks attention on Friday night, Riverside has other guys who can make plays and Roller talks about the other weapons on the Bulldog offense
After a week two loss to AHSTW, Riverside would beat South Central Calhoun and IKM Manning setting up a showdown with #1 AC/GC. The Bulldogs gave them a scare but the Chargers prevailed in an exciting game. The next week, Southwest Valley nearly upset Riverside in a 33-32 overtime win. Roller says they learned a lot from these close games especially the Timberwolves game
Roller is a transfer from Atlantic and he says he has found a home in Oakland and a second family in the Riverside football team
After graduation, Roller says he intends to enter the air force. Riverside hosts Lynnville Sully in a Class A, First Round playoff game on Friday night, coverage on KSOM.
