(Battle Creek) One person died, and two juveniles suffered injuries when a pickup rear-ended a semi-trailer in Ida County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at 230th Street and Carriage Avenue. Authorities say 29-year-old Joshua Fowler of Holstein died in the crash. Two female juvenile passengers suffered injuries.
According to the report, Fowler, driving a northbound 2005 Chevy pickup on Carriage Avenue, rear-ended a semi-tractor trailer, slowing down to attempt a turn onto westbound 230th Street. The pickup struck the right rear side of the grain trailer, trapping Fowler inside the vehicle.
Wings AirCare flew one of the juvenile passengers to MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, and the second was taken to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
The semi-driver, 74-year-old Donald Schultz of Battle Creek, was transported to Horn Hospital in Ida Grove for treatment of minor injuries.
The Ida County Sheriff’s Office, Battle Creek Fire and Rescue, and Ida Grove Ambulance assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the Scene.
