Iowa Infant Deaths Sees an Increase

(Des Moines) Iowa’s seeing a rise in the number of preventable infant deaths.  Casey Manser says most infant deaths are preventable by reducing suffocation risks as the baby sleeps. The SIDS Foundation has had 31 family referrals in the past year alone.  Sudden, unexpected infant deaths were reported in 18 countries. They urge parents to reduce suffocation risks and ensure the baby sleeps on his or her back. Local pediatricians warn against adopting social media trends like co-sleeping with an infant.  They also urge parents to reduce any suffocation risks in the baby’s crib or bassinet.
