(Atlantic) Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird appeared at the Cass County Republican Headquarters in Atlantic on Monday evening. The Guthrie County resident is wrapping up her first year in Office. The Republican and former Guthrie County Attorney spoke on numerous topics, including one of her primary priorities, supporting and defending Law Enforcement.
Bird’s focus is working with everybody so they can serve every part of the state. Bird’s Office worked on overdose deaths and making sure an individual giving illegal drugs to another person leading to their death goes to an Iowa prison.
Additionally, Bird asserts that she is responding to the false narratives from the coastal states. Their comments about law enforcement don’t reflect her own experiences.
Bird blamed some Democratic candidates for politicizing law enforcement and defunding the Police. Bird says it is her experience that people from both parties believe in law enforcement, but not necessarily all Democratic candidates.
In a separate matter, Bird is taking legal action against mandates that require individuals to purchase electric vehicles. Bird believes that people should be free to choose the type of car they want. Furthermore, Bird and her team are also involved in legal proceedings concerning requirements for electric semi-trucks. Bird says the semi-trucks don’t exist in a commercial application, and electric rigs have no charging stations.
Brenna Bird was elected on November 8, 2022, and took over the position on January 1, 2023.
