(Audubon, IA) — Audubon Head Coach Sean Birks has had to deal with injuries the last several weeks — several of his stars QB Carter Wessel, WR/LB Austin Christensen and LB Karter Obermeier all did not play last week but the Wheelers won anyway 36-24 over Collins Maxwell. Birks is still not sure about their availability for this week’s game at Baxter
On offense with Wessel out, Aaron Olsen simply slid into his old spot and Birks did something he has never done before, start a Freshman at tailback and Mason Kasperbauer responded with 18 carries for 111 yards
Another player who has stepped up with the injuries has been Senior Colin Hartl who has stepped on both sides of the ball
Audubon has the district title wrapped up, the 7-0 Wheelers visit the 3-4 Baxter Bolts tomorrow.
