(Avoca, IA) — After all that has happened in the past week, AHSTW was able to get on the football field this past Friday and beat Red Oak 42-28 as the Vikings remain in contention for #2 seed in Class 1A, District #8. Treynor has the district title all but wrapped up but the Vikings will try to get into the playoffs with a win over Shenandoah this week.
Interim Head Coach Jason Holst is running the team for the rest of the season after last week’s stunning resignation of GG Harris. Holst says this team has faced a lot of adversity this year, losing their starting QB to injury and now losing their head coach but they have found ways to respond each time
Luke Sternberg had a huge game against the Tigers with 23 carries for 308 yards and 6 TD’s. Holst says the Senior acts like a coach on the field
The assistant coaches had to shuffle duties around with Harris not on the sidelines this week. Holst says the staff came together to make everything work
3-4 Shenandoah will visit 5-2 AHSTW this Friday night.
